Phone lost: what to do in the first 30 minutes
A calm, step-by-step checklist to stop damage fast after a lost or stolen phone.
Quick checklist
- Suspend the SIM with your carrier (or via the carrier portal/app).
- Use Find My / Device Manager to lock or wipe if needed.
- Change your email password and sign out all sessions.
- Update banking/payment passwords and contact your bank if fraud suspected.
- Secure messaging sessions (WhatsApp/Telegram) and enable app lock.
- Move MFA off SMS to an authenticator app as soon as possible.
